Valerie McClymont

by
K–12 Art Teacher

Valerie began teaching at Covenant in 2009. Her love and curiosity for God’s created world began during her childhood in the woods of North Carolina. She has spent her lifetime in awe of God’s workmanship and encourages the observation and development of that in her students. She has developed a comprehensive art curriculum for all grades, and the evidence of its effectiveness is on display throughout the hallways of our building. She believes that every student can learn to carefully observe, to practice the discipline of making what they see, and to express their own distinct personhood and imagination in material objects. Val completed an Associate’s degree in Visual Arts from Harrisburg Community College after which she apprenticed with a master ceramist. She is currently pursuing a B.F.A. at Messiah College. She was a working artist until her employment with Covenant. Valerie and her husband have three children at Covenant and one graduate.
